50 cals don't suck at all, If any thing I think they are a little over powerful in the game , (or rather the damage model of the aircraft is a little to sensitive to the 50 cals, I've had my wing removed by one - two 50 cal rounds quite a few times , more than can be accounted for by just a bit of bad luck..).
One thing I also noticed is PK's , I'v been PKd by 50cal more than by any other munition in the game (I;m not talking about someone sitting on your 6 and blasting you) I'm talking about instant death (fist round).
That said , I'm not e very good shot with those 50cals. It take allot of practice I think to be good with them. I'm not even very good with the 20mm cannons , I usually over compensate for the deflection shot, Noticed the same problem with the MK103's . Also I rely way to much on the tracers and here the MK108 is king, nice bright yellow tracers, easy to see.
With the mk108 , I give a short little burst to see how I must adjust my shot , adjust till they start to hit , then a nice long squeeze on the trigger (if necessary).
I saw that some people use the gyro sites in the P51 to practice how to shoot with them 50cals, perhaps one day (If I get bored with my trusty old 110) I'll give it a go..
