Sorry to monopolize the board but I've received so many PM's from people who are concerned about Kitler that I thought I should answer here.
We thought for sure (again) last night that he was ready to give up the fight, so I made the difficult decision to call for a vet appointment today. This morning the little bugger walked into the kitchen and helped himself to a little breakfast and a nice long drink of water. He's definitely taking us all on an emotional roller coaster ride.
I didn't bring him home over the weekend as I'd originally planned because I thought Emilio might be coming down with conjunctivitis and I didn't want risk exposing Kitler. It turned out to be a false alarm. Les (daughter's boyfriend) thinks Kitler is lonely and depressed, so I'll bring him home this afternoon with hope that being in his own home with his siblings and furfriends nearby might help perk him up. I don't know what else to try.
I need to make a vet appointment in a couple days for more antibiotics and to discuss whether Kitler has regenerative or non-regenerative anemia. What happens next depends on the answer to that question and on whether Kitler's condition is deteriorating or improving. Things can't go on as they are for much longer.
