Worm is home from the vet. He's going to be on sub-q fluids and we're just going to do the best we can for him. His prognosis is OK, though he will ultimately die from kidney failure. No one knows how much time he has with us.
I asked the vet over and over if there's something I'm doing wrong at home that caused 2 of my cats to develop kidney failure in such a short period of time (the water? the food? what????) but she said that Worm's kidneys are failing because they are becoming calcified (excessive stones) and Lulu's kidney failure was due to something about the little vessels or tubes in the kidneys, I didn't quite understand. The point is that both are congenital but very different and it's just random that they both had it within the same year.
If you can purr that we have lots of time left with our Squirmy Wormie, we'd appreciate it.
