Like Judith stated, older ones may at best swat a kitten, lightly, only to put it in its place. Even if an older cat dislikes the kitten, he will generally just ignore it. An occasional growl could be expected, but seldom will an older cat attack a kitten.
My one-eyed Gracie was an attack kitten, a real pita. My older cats put up with it all. an occasional light swat did occur from time to time but it was like watching a mother swat an annoying toddler, nothing to get worked up over, and Gracie couldn't have cared less.
Just provide them all with lots of toys, playtime and love like Judith suggested.
Good luck with your new addition and I'm so sorry over your loss of Mower.
And if you have any pics you'd like to post of your kitties, we'd love to see them!
