Chloe, my beautiful tortie, has severe asthma. I've been rushing her to the vet when she has an attack for going on 11 years. She's a nervous wreck, neurotic, scardey cat.
So, yesterday, her sides start heaving. This is much sooner than usual between shots. She's wised up to my putting her pred dissolved in tuna juice, so I guess didn't get enough inbetween vet visits.
I fill a plunger with 10 mg. of dissolved pred and tuna juice. I cannot get her. Everytime I come close, she slips away.
Finally, at 1:30 in the morning, I barricade hiding spots in my office and finally get the pred down her. Now I wait to see if it helps.
Finally, at 4:00 AM, I go to sleep but am wired so it takes a while.
I get about 5 hours sleep. Jump out of bed to check on Chloe who, of course, cannot be found.
I have a cup of coffee, throw on clothes and start the look under beds, in closets, behind furniture for her. Thank heavens she's too scared to go downstairs or I'd never find her.
Finally, I find her in the back bottom of the linen closet in the guest bathroom. I drive to the vet. She gets her shots. I wait around so I can get a new vial of her compounded pred, tuna flavor.
I get home and lug the carrier with her in it up 1-1/2 flights of stairs. Otherwise, she'll hide somewhere and never go up again.
I get to my office at 2:30. She's still breathing heavily, which means I'm still a wreck, as the meds take 2-4 hours to kick in.
All I can say is: cats are no trouble.
