Ziosurba, who is a Hurricane Floyd rescue from '99, has for the past couple years been having recurrent GI troubles, diarrhea and throwing up. She woudl get some flagyl and be ok for awhile.
Well, a couple weeks ago she started throwin up again and mom picked her up and noticed that she had dropped a LOT of weight. She also had let her fur get matted (she is a big foofy girl). Then she started not being very interested in food.
When Felix came, a bottle of albon came with him for whoever coudl use it, so Zio was started on that and began to improve.
Mom talked with the vet and said that she has seen this progression of symptoms in several cats she has known herself and read about them with other people's cats she has known. It always seems to boil down to either IBD or some kind of GI cancer. The vet said to start her on prednisone, so she has been getting 5 mg pred for the past week. She was on I/D food for a few days while she got going again and that really got her GI back into shape. She is getting salmon and oat food, because if it is IBD then she needs to not have the regular food the main crew eats.
Well she is doing much better! She is eating a lot, and gaining weight, and active and taking better care of her fur.
If you follow the link and page down below Bast's pict you can see a nice pict of her.
