My old boy Red sight was failing bad, but he seemed to get around OK as long as I did not move anything. He seemed to know where some things where and "see" mass but not form.
They have ways of letting us know. Unless there are serious complications cats that loose some sight or all tend to adapt. But you do have to help some.
But I know what you are feeling.
