last night his eye was very gooey & sealed shut. mom put a warm compress on it and cleaned him up, he was VERY fussy, his eye was clearly painful. he fought mom, he does not usually fight her when cleaning his eye. she gave him some butorphanol and restarted the clavamox (he has been on l-lysine & terramycin this entire time).
this mornign he was fussy and unhappy again, eye gooey again. another cleaning, more unhappiness. more meds.
mom was out at a rescue event all day. came home and found that his eye has split open in front.
more cleaning, more pain meds, some nip, and on teh advice of another experienced caregiver put vitamin E oil on his eye which seemed to soothe it.
At the event mom talked with Carol about getting his eye removed. Thing is right now, Marleys is flat broke until the beginning of November. The vet Marleys uses is not one mom likes at all, and she charges just as much as our own vet for eyes (about $200). But out vet now requires payment at the time of the procedure.
Mom might be able to get an advance on her paycheck, she isn't sure, she has to make the mortgage payment and still has a way to go for it.
didn't know if anyone here would be willing to help, this is more urgent than the FIV kittens, they haven't arrived yet afterall.
I am posting a link I put on the handicapped pets board that has a pict of his eye taken just a little while ago. the dark oval is the eye innards leaking out.
my vet is closed now but will be open monday.
I need to call them and see when they can do the surgery, ackackackackack.
at least I have pain meds so can keep him comfy.
I"ll keep everyone appraised of the situation.
on the upside, Carrie is doing quite well.
