When I look back at pictures where she was out and about the house like a normal cat. Now she's like a feral. Under the bed when she's inside. We need to move, get a bigger house so she could have the West Wing. Kasha and Lukey are always going after her.

on 11/5/2009, 12:50 pm, in reply to "Anya"Lillie and Chloe were two of my three original cats. When I brought Butchie in, they both hated and harassed him unmercifully. Butchie worked through it but Lillie and Chloe wound up withdrawing and becoming very nervous around other cats.
Lillie wound up living in my bedroom. It's a big space, deep windowsill with cushy cat beds and she slept with me every night. (She's gone now.) Chloe also started living upstairs. Now she lives almost exclusively in my office. She gets a lot of attention because I'm in my office for many hours, even on weekends. Last vet visit for her asthma shots, I found out she'd gained 3/4 of a pound, which is good. She also doesn't mind any of the other cats who come into "her" space because she feels secure there.
One of the effects of bringing in new cats is the change in dynamics. Have you considered medicating Anya so she's less stressed?(I know. Easier said than done.)

Last night she was sooo growly to me (she was in the bedroom) just so bent out of shape I almost didn't trust her. She went to go under the bed but I put her on the bed and she was not comfortable, kept looking at the [closed] door. Until I got under the covers, she totally transformed and was a sweetheart. Slept on the bed most of the night. We have her food and water in the bathroom. When she's safe from them, she's wonderful. If there's any threat, she's a cougar. Comforting to know you have the same type of dynamics going on. I just feel badly for her. She was here first. (I do remember Lillie too) ((hugs))

Gabe and Buster are instigators. But they are also my youngest cats who have a lot of piss and vinegar in them and run, play and wrestle together. Sarah just wants to be left alone. She's feisty and has wound up with a few scratches on her nose. Tiki is a nervous wreck. Gabe and Buster rile him up and he screams, runs and hides (on top of a cupboard in my kitchen).
Yesterday morning, he got caught unawares, screeched and jumped off a kitchen island and knocked over a Villeroy & Boch four sided porcelain candleabra I should have known better than to put there. I was so surprised, I knocked over a double-size coffee mug and spilled an ocean of coffee all over the floor, table and in all the just put down cat food plates.
Never a dull moment. But Gabe and Buster are just being active cats, as are Lukey and Kasha. So, like you, I don't want to medicate Tiki who, in and of himself, isn't a problem.
Now when Chloe and Lillie were going after Butchie, they were truly stalking him and were out and out mean. One night, I was watching TV in bed, cuddling Butchie so he'd feel safe and Chloe jumped out from behind a big pillow with a huge hiss. It scared me, never mind poor Butchie. - LOL Judith you sure have a full plate

Isn't it funny how they always manage to break stuff we like, instead of stuff we don't care about? Lukey was chasing someone in the living room a couple weeks ago (I think Flynn as he also picks on him but to play and Flynn wants no part of it) and he took a shortcut across the coffee table and knocked 1 of 2 silver intricately carved candle sticks and it landed on the floor in several pieces. I got the pair at a thrift shop, but love them. They are actually made of clay under a silver flake, like fake mercury glass. I managed to put it back together with a glue gun and silver paint we had from our Honda. Almost as good as new. When Kasha stalks Anya she's truly mean. Kasha is a little spitfire and not nice at times. And she could sit on Anya and kill her.

But when a cat screeches or there's another loud noise, it's chaos here. I have two beautiful roosters by Karl Ens, a firm that does outstanding porcelain work (mostly known for their birds). One day, Lena knocked over one of the roosters. I was able to glue the tail back but, as you know, once broken and repaired, the value is next to nothing.
The candleabra broke in neat pieces. Two arms came off clean and the other in one big piece and one small part. I will be able to glue it back together.

They love to squeeze into boxes, suitcases, etc. together. Ollie, especially, never seems to "get" he doesn't fit. Ever see a 24 pound cat squeezed into a shoe box? That's Ollie. - That is so funny!
