But really, it is typical for someone to have multiple allergies. If someone has a serious dog allergy, there's an excellent chance they're also allergic to cats. It may take a while to develop a reaction -- they may be fine for short times but not longer times. - They'll need to fostering..msg

Some cats seem to produce more allergens than others, so they should try fostering and see what the reactions are. I've read that females may cause less reaction than males. - See if a shelter would let them take a cat for a trial run or try a Siberian cat msg

Why do these people think the father and son have an allergy? Have they had cats?
My niece is allergic to cats. She can be around them but, eventually, her eyes will get red and she gets itchy. Eddie and Ollie lived with her mother for years. My niece didn't pet them but could play with them and be in the same room with them. Then again, they were two cats (big enough to count as four based on weight :-) in a 2200 square foot house.
I suppose there are mild to extreme allergic reactions. I sure would worry about her being in my house with its concentration of cats, fur and dander. - They seem to have been itchy

on 11/5/2009, 12:14 pm, in reply to "Cat Allergy Question"With cats, I am allergic to the oils their hair secrets. If it gets into any membranes like my eyes I get all sore and red and sneeze. I also have to be careful after I shave, if they rub against my face after shaving I brake out. I have leaned to live with that all my life and work around it.
So consider that as well. Hope this helps.
