Thank you Barbara for posting for us. Your a dear to do that. It's been a crazy few days, but glad to be at MIL's right now keeping warm. We lost power around 2pm Wed. Winds so high, haven't seen 80 mph winds I don't believe since the ice storm we had back in the 90's. Tree's down, most of them older pines it seems, power lines down and roads were blocked. We did not have any real damage to our townhome on outside, just some shingles loose but already fixed. |
Tom and I were going to sleep at MIL's last night, we spent a few hours at her house yesterday to get a hot meal and warm up a bit. But when we drove home to check on cats, our emergency sump pump which was around 10 years old gave out. So we had some water not much, but maybe around 1/4 of basement was wet. So...Tom and I were up every hour and a half to two hours bailing out the sump pump. Mostly Tom towards early morning hours, he wanted me to sleep. But I couldn't. I stayed on the couch, three cats like magnets to me trying to keep warm and he was on the recliner, so we could just go quick down to the basement when needed. He ordered the last emergency sump pump in our area, at least I think it was the last. He ordered on his phone, and then we picked it up at 6am this morning and he installed it. It's working great thank God. So we went to MIL's had a hot meal, our first showers since Wed., and then Tom went to work. Poor guy. He's so tired.
It was around 54 degrees in the house, but tonight, it's going down to 10, with a wind chill of 1 below. I'm worried sick about the cats. I feel guilty being warm at MIL's and they are not. We will be sleeping here tonight. And Opie and Misty, who stay in our garage usually have the kitty heating pad, they have nothing. Just warm bedding and shelters in the garage. Tom just got out of work and headed to take care of our cats and Opie and Misty. Please keep the prayers coming, I'm so concerned for everyone and for our cats inside and out and our home. We are supposed to get power back on, on Sunday at midnight they say. It's not going to warm up much at all this weekend. Prayers going out for all those affected and all those who need them. Thank you all for prayers and well wishes...I'll update soon and I am believing good news and power back on! Thank you again...
