pat, I do not know the answer, but I was under the impression that we have angels on both shoulders and some who surround us with their wings when we need help.
My advice is to place it on the shoulder you feel is right, that is usually the angel who is helping you at that moment.
But, I don't know if there is a right or left side to place it on.
