Dear melanie,

Sometimes our paths cross with someone who touches our heart so much, that we develop a long time friendship.

It sounds like your internet friend has touched your life in a way that is very special to you.

I have 2 very good friends from the internet whom I met. One being the love of my life, my spouse, and I just lost him 20 months ago. The other has been my best friend and has been my rock and strength after my husband's death.

In your case, you haven't had much time to meet her, and you still love her, as you have been chatting with her and telling her your secrets.

So, in a sense she is your best friend. I am truly sorry that she is ill. perhaps you can try to obtain her home address and send her something special?

She may just need you to be 'her friend' aside from her sickness.. she will be trying to keep to normal stuff.
