Hi Sheryl,
I am so sorry that your sweet beloved husband passed. The quilt sounds like a wonderful gift from the heart. I already gave most of my husband's things away to St. VIncent's.
I cross stitch and have been getting back into cross stitching the patterns that my Roy picked for me. One includes the Washington monument, and its got alot of glitter thread... Its a real pain to work with, but we have an annual card tournament in his name and I want to finish it and have it auctioned off. My Roy had end stage kidney disease and every year we have a card tournament "skooby jd tournament" and last year I donated his guitar. The year before was a cd of all his favourite things that our aunt put together for us.
I know of a lady from this site who scrap books and she put a book together using all of her mother's most precious things and stories she used to tell her.
These are all wonderful gifts from the heart that remind us of our loved one.
The first Christmas, I made a memory box for my father in law. He and ROy had gone to a rolling stones concert the last summer before he passed, so I bought some rolling stones cds, and wrapped the cds for his dad, and then pasted the cover and placed my husband's sunglasses that he wore that day, with his favourite picture of he and his dad. Roy's dad was speechless... and now he displays it with joy.
So, the Amish are doing such a lovely thing for those who cannot sew, or craft, and thank you so much for sharing.
God Bless you, dear Sheryl,
Lovingly,
Judith
