Are you able to look into my life? This poem is perfect for today. My son has a bad cold and I had to "Mother" him last night. He even laid his head on my lap so I could hug him and rub his chest where he is so congested.
Then of course my mind made the leap to Richard being sick and how through it all my love never ended. I meant those vows with all my heart and as sad as I am I am proud that I kept them right to the end when people and him kept saying you are too young to deal with this and a young child maybe it would be better if you put him in a nursing home. Yeah Like I ever would have done that. It may have been darn hard some days but I keep my promises.. and it was never a burden when you love someone.. It was more of a honor to care for him right down to the end. Even his funeral was done especially our of love for him. I made darn sure the New England Patriots football team hat and jersey was right there with him.
My school friends that run the funeral home even put a flag up on the flag pole with the Patriots logo.
I printed out this poem and hung it on my wall here at work and will also frame it to hang at home.
Thank you for you uncanny ability to put beautiful poems together and to share them for all of us to enjoy.
Love, Debbie
