Hi Linda,
First I am so sorry that I haven't been on here for awhile. I have been straight out busy, taking care of my mom or sick.
Isn't it awful that it seems one person gets stuck doing all the caretaking. Believe me you will be a much stronger person for it.
Have you heard any more from the care facility on placement?
My own Mom is in a nursing home as I think I told you and it's been a rough few weeks with her. She has been showing symptons of sun downing. I am not sure if you are familiar with what it is but an elderly person can undergo a major change about the time the sun is going in for the day or has not come out at all. There isn't anything that really can be done for this so you just have to go with the flow.
The best way I deal with the situations as you talked about above is with a dose of humor.
Everytime I either do my mom's laundry, bring her a coffe or buy her ice cream or a milkshake she always thanks my sister for thinking of her. This has happened for the past few years. I guess I'm just not a good daugher! You have to laugh or find humor or you will explode. I am hear to vent to if you need me.
Hope this note finds you doing better?
