Posted by Luke The two issues of "Teen Titans Spotlight" were interesting reading. The first has Mento of the Doom Patrol psychically abusing the heck out of Garth, and leading him on some freaky hallucinations... then Garth turns the tables and returns the favor. Very trippy story. The second issue was more straightforward, with Garth and Arthur battling Manhunters piloting giant alien jellyfish creatures as part of the "Millenium" crossover. Not a bad adventure. The two issues of the "Blue suit" mini series were very, very cool. I especially liked the way that Ocean Master was portrayed -- he was dangerous and powerful, but I couldn't help but feel a little bit for his situation, spending his whole life ignored and overshadowed by his brother. And with those crystals he seemed pretty darn strong! I haven't really seen any modern appearances of OM (excepting the current IC crossover), but if he is as cool as he is here, I will be impressed. The '91 series was also pretty neat. I think I would have very much enjoyed this series if I had read it at the time (when I would have been 11 years old). It strikes me as a nice combination of classic and modern elements, and I thought did a good job of getting in the head of the characters, especially Arthur and Manta. Really enjoyable stuff! Finally, I have read the first issue (#5) of the PAD stuff, and I thought it was pretty cool. Not having the background of the earlier 5 issues (counting #0) makes it a little confusing, and seeing Dolphin and Arthur together is a little odd, but I enjoyed it. I am very much looking forward to reading the rest of the PAD stuff I picked up and then "The Atlantis Chronicles" books. This coming weekend, there is a an annual Big Sale (TM) up in Greenville (SC) at a gaming and comic shop called Borderlands, where if they have them I intend to pick up the TPBs of "Time & Tide" and "The Waterbearer," as TPBs will be on sale. Now if DC would just give us a "Showcase Presents: Aquaman!" : --Previous Message--

Well, I have liked what I read so far. The issue of "Adventure" was pretty neat, especially seeing Arthur and his family heading out into the sea to start their new, non-royal lives of adventure. Of course it didn't last, but hey, still neat. (Also very cool to see a little cameo by my main man Black Manta!) ![]()
: Hey fellow Aquafans. Well, yesterday I
: decided to head over to Augusta and visit a
: shop called Blast From The Past. They are
: what can be best described as a
: "collectables junk shop."
: Essentially the guy buys up toys, comics,
: and other collectables and eBay then turns
: around and sells them in his shop. Its a
: great place to dig around in because you
: never know what you will find. Comics are
: all $1, but if you get 25 you get them for
: $20. So I went in search of Aqua-goodies
: yesterday and here is what I came away with:
: "Adventure Comics" 448
: "Aquaman" (1st Mini-series) 1, 3
: "Aquaman" ('91 series) 1, 6, 8
: "Aquaman" ('94 series) 5-7, 11,
: 22, 27, 30-31
: "Teen Titans Spotlight" 10, 18
: "The Atlantis Chronicles" 1-3
:
: Overall not a bad haul, some nice varied
: stuff in there. Should be fun to read
: through!
