Arthur was replaced because "supposedly" once he became King then his story is over. I say hogwash. I say there was so much more to lose. I think A.) Get Mera and Arthur back together again. B.) Have Atlantis rebuilt and C.) Give him an Heir. Aquaman works so much better when he's protecting not only his people, but his family. I have in no doubt in my mind that he will return. Look at his costume on how it was changed slowly back to a modernized version of his costume of old. That's just a superficial change that the people wanted changed. imagine Artie lasting over Orin as long....I doubt it. Orin will return. You can count on it. Too much history AND if they do make a movie or what have you, it would be too hard to explain why Orin isn't in the comics than what we saw on the big screen or TV. Dollars to Donuts, no matter how much critics love this book, Orin will return. You can't beat the Original Aquaman Just like New Coke couldn't replace Coca-Cola.

I can honestly say I gave this new take a shot. It just doesn't feel right to me. The more they get into the D&D side of things the less it feels like Aquaman. I like my Aquaman to straddle bet. The Surface world and Atlantis. Balancing both worlds and doing it well. Artie has and I think he shouldn't be replaced.

: I've always seen the fact that Aquaman didn't
: have a "replacement character" as
: a good thing myself. Especially considering
: pretty much every major hero has had one at
: some point. It show that he was unique, that
: there can only be one Aquaman.
:
: But, i guess i should've known it was bound
: to happen at some point considering the poor
: numbers on the book.
:
: Though it sucks not having Orin as the main
: character of the book, the blow is lessened
: by the fact the he is still playing a major
: part, and his character is the most
: interesting part of the book still IMO. And
: comics pretty much always revert to the
: status quo, so we can rest assured that
: he'll be bac some day. Hopefully soon.

: Kurt Busiek has stated he won't be bringin
: old
: AQ back but I have no doubt he'll be back
: sometime. He's just going through a phase
: that nearly every other hero at DC and
: Marvel has...the replacement phase. It's a
: staple of comics and now our beloved is
: joining the ranks of the elite by having it
: done (about damn time if you ask me) not to
: mention KB is giving AQ a much needed
: quickening by taking Atlantis, the
: telepathy, the hand, the costume and all the
: other distractions out of the picture and
: focusing on AQ lore and his place in the
: DCU. My only hope is that this replacement
: is more like a Azrael then a Kyle Rayner and
: it doesn't take 10 damn years to get AQ
: back.

: I just hate the new direction this book has
: taken. I hate the writing and the art. I
: find the series very bland as well as
: confusing. For the love of God bring the
: real Arthur CUrry back. I mean when the
: hec is he going to return already!
