If a writer could manage to make Orin an Adventurer and a King at time same time without the series getting all lopsided then I'd be all about it but...that never seems to happen.
: Sure. If I hung in there during the Larsen era
: (Cringe) I'd buy it. I'm not saying I'd only
: be interested if Artie was King, just that
: it adds more demension. The only limitations
: is the lack of imagination of the writer.

: Would buy AQ as just the Atlantean hero and
: not King?
:

: I wouldn't say I'm hooked on the notion, but
: it does have story potential and it's not a
: hinderance IMO. He works best being king and
: adventerur at the same time. Protecting
: Atlantis and defending his adoptive surface
: world. It's a hard line to straddle and
: that's what intrigues me.

: I can tolerate him being king but don't see
: how it's essential to his character. Mostly
: what I hate is the 'king' cliche and how
: fans (no one on this board thankfully) are
: so hopelessly hooked (oops, another AQ pun )
: on the notion of AQ HAVING to be king.

: I like Aquaman as king. But he has to many
: roles. He's a hero, a king, and the
: protector of the secrect sea! I think he can
: do all three as long as they make him stand
: out as a hero. That's his best quality. He's
: a a great hero, so being a protector and
: leader (or king) should come natural.

: I do. Can't help it. I think it makes him to
: much like Namor, creating this cliche among
: underwater comic characters, and ultimately
: taking attention away from the essence of
: the character. I'd much prefer if AQ was
: just the defender of Atlantis and if it were
: absolutely essential for AQ to be king then
: I'd rather see him as a elected king.

: I like Aquaman when he's Aquaman, not Connan
: underwater. The only reason I get the issues
: when they come out is to see the dweller.
: The original Curry will be back soon. This
: is just a old case of if it isn't broke
: don't fix it.

: Arthur was replaced because
: "supposedly" once he became King
: then his story is over. I say hogwash.
:
: I agree, it's definately hogwash. Especially
: considering he's been a king for most of his
: existence.
:
:
: I say
: there was so much more to lose. I think A.)
: Get Mera and Arthur back together again. B.)
: Have Atlantis rebuilt and C.) Give him an
: Heir. Aquaman works so much better when he's
: protecting not only his people, but his
: family.
:
: Agreed again. though i am enjoying the
: title, and what's going on with Orin at the
: moment, when he does return these things
: should happen. Especially the heir part.
: Look at the current Justice title, Aquaman
: and his son are both playing huge parts. His
: sons been taken and we all know that
: Aquaman's going to stop at nothing to get
: him back.
:
: Jurgens run is a great example of Aquaman
: still being a King, having his family
: intact, and still telling great stories.
