There were some moments where the characters didn't sound "real." Like when Cal Durham asks Arthur "what he's babbling about." That's villain talk. And then the villain himself was a little over the top. His little "I'm not going to tell you my plan" speech was one of those sarcastic winks at us. I really dislike that. But the last thing was the name of Narwhal's friend "Cryptid." I know what a cryptid is. Why don't you name her after a cryptid? It's little things like this that kind of kick you as a reader and remind you you're reading a story and its all pretend. Suffice it to say I'm not liking the Tad Williams stuff ... and it's almost making me wish Busiek was back. I wasn't very impressed with his stuff either! --Previous Message--

I like the art too. It's always a refreshing thing to see something that doesn't look exactly like everything else. Is it just me or is comic art something of a "who can look just like Jim Lee or Todd McFarlane"? That was the nineties! It's time to start embracing difference instead of rejecting it. Of course McManus was around in the 80s so the Lees and McFarlanes all learned from guys like him.
: I just read this issue today, and I was
: surprised how much I like it!
: Maybe the art's starting to grow on me.
: Maybe it's because the book looks to be
: getting cancelled soon. Who knows why? But
: I'm liking it!
: What's everyone's thoughts on this latest
: issue? Honestly?
: Abe.
