Well that's why it's being canned. What's the point in creating a hero over again with less powers? It was just a bad mistake. What new readers are they trying to get? Is it the teenage demographic? If so they can forget that. We're too busy playing PS3 or watching youtube.
:
: Why would they do this? To get new readers,
: that's why. They tried to rid the name of
: this "Aquaman sucks" taint. Sadly
: it was a bizarre effort because they tried
: to essentially make a new character who was
: identical to the old one at least in name,
: appearance and nearly the same powers.
: "Less developed" is exactly why
: the new guy seems less powerful, but the
: truth is we don't know how powerful he is,
: because he hasn't gotten to do much at all.

: Ok, you got me. I can't lie, I too like
: cherry
: coke.
:
: Yes alot of people were pissed about Swamp
: thing when Alan took over, and yeah David
: messed up hulk. But aquaman is not a
: character that should be changed in my
: opinion. With Green Lanterns I can see that,
: that's the whole catch of the character.
: Anyone one who is brave in the face of
: danger and acts out of heroism without fear,
: will become chosen.
:
: Aquaman is not that type of charcter. There
: are some exceptions to this, like robin.
: Some were pissed that dick greyson left, but
: he became a cool hero in nightwing. Then,
: jason todd became annoying. They killed him,
: and now he's back and better than before.
: Now tim drake is still filling the mantle of
: robin, and doing a good job. The reason is
: because of good writing.
:
: The new book took a magical middle-earth
: like direction and it didn't work. There's
: nothing that stands out about the new guy.
: He isn't as strong as the original, and his
: telepathy isn't as developed. What's the
: point in making the same character over,
: with weaker powers, when you could've had
: the original in the first place?

:
: I get the Batman analogy, but with all due
: respect, and this is coming from a guy who
: calls Aquaman his favourite super hero:
: Aquaman is no Batman. Like I said, to me it
: doesn't matter who's using the name. Just
: as long as it's a good story. Alan Moore's
: Swamp Thing must have seemed like a slap in
: the face to somebody because it pretty much
: turned Swamp Thing on its head ... but it's
: still as good as comics can get. Peter
: David tinkered with the Hulk and made him
: unrecognizable, as well as pretty badly
: misinterpreting the whole multiple
: personality deal, and Hulk hasn't ever
: really recovered. Much to the delight of
: Hulk fanboys, it seems ...
:
: To my mind however, I think DC set the
: standard by chickening out so many times
: before. Oliver Queen came back, Hal Jordan
: came back, Hawkgirl was canceled because
: Hawkman fans couldn't take it. So it really
: is just a matter of time before majority
: rules.

: Well you liked, but that doesn't mean other
: people did. I sure you had some who did, but
: not everyone did. It's just hard to give up
: certain things when you are used to them.
: It's like having the punisher not being
: frank castle.
:
: When that happend the series was dying. Then
: they brought him back and the series went up
: again, so maybe that was a marketing ploy.
: But if they were going for a new aquaman,
: they could've atleast gave him a different
: origin. That's a slap in the face to some
: die-hard fans. I don't want anyone else
: losing their parents and suiting up in a bat
: suit besides bruce wayne. It's tough to let
: stuff like that go.

: New Coke was basically Pepsi and I liked it
: better than regular Coke. Damn Coke for
: offering us a new alternative and then
: snatching it away again without giving it a
: chance to garner support and sales!
