Aquaman II goes missing and a villain takes over the name and because he has no ethics or morals the relatively weak powers of the Aquamen are seen to be good enough to take down the JLA. Then after it's fresh in everyone's mind what Aquaman is truly capable of when he sets his mind to it, orchestrate the return of either Aquaman to a prominent role, whether it's in a team or solo ongoing...
