: My biggest problem with the replacement
: Aquaman and some of the others in the DCU is
: the total lack of respect or outright
: destruction of the Teen Titans (my Titans
: that I grew up with). These characters were
: supposed to be better than their mentors
: because they grew up with love, support, and
: a family. Tempest should have been Aquaman
: if they were to go to the replacement.

The changes they made in Aqualad in recent years amd his power upgrade made him an unlikely candidate if they wanted a stripped down, less powerful Aquaman to take over the lead. Yes, they did eventually feature Tempest and he was powered down but I don't think he'd have fit into what they were trying to accomplish then either. Were they wrongheaded to go this way? Probably. Would sales have levelled o ff better if even a Tempest without magics had become the new Aquaman, searching for his lost family through a barabaric undersea wilderness? I would bet so but for the Golden Age flavor of Aquaman, he was not the right go to guy at all.
