Posted by Cindy One struggle we had with the reading exercise that seemed like it may never improve was with mixing up similar words. For a little over a month I couldnt add any words because he would mix up words such as head, hand, had, you, your, etc. Then suddenly one day something clicked because he then stopped mixing them up. Now that we could add more words I let him pick out the words. One of the words he picked out was three. I all ready knew there was in the deck and normally when reading the word three he would always say there so I suggested he might want to pick another word, but he insisted on three, so three was added. I think he wanted to test himself, and after a few initial mix ups, to my surprise he stopped mixing up there and three. It now seems that it doesnt take near as long for him to stop mixing up trouble words. My husband and mother have also noticed an improvement in Sean. I would rarely leave an assignment for my mother to have Sean do, knowing that it would probably not get done, and end in a lot of frustration. Now I can do this and its not a problem. Ive also noticed in math that when a new concept comes along he catches onto it much quicker. One day he actually wanted me to time him doing subtracting problems, normally timings are something that he would avoid, or would cause panic so I was really surprised that he had this idea. But it does tell me that he is gaining confidence in himself.

Just an update on how Sean (8yrs) is doing. We started Audiblox on August 26, 2002. I am continuing to notice improvement in all subjects. It seems every time I am able to increase the amount of word cards thrown down at a time his reading speed also picks up.
