MESSY? Lauren is NOT MESSY. She had wobbles in that competition. The quality of her skills is excellent. There is a difference between the two. Her program is the most difficult BY ANYONE (including the Chinese competitors there). No one on ANY apparatus has a potential 7.00 SV. Which means she has more skills (as she does), but also more difficult skills. All with good execution. No one is excusing the wobbles. They shouldn't happen, but that doesn't make her gymnastics messy. If we were going to make excuses, competing 3 rounds of competition, with 3 full training sessions, on a broken finger (which no one seems to have mentioned), might be a good one. But not once did she complain, or mention it in interviews. And she wouldn't use it as an excuse, nor did she use nerves as an excuse. She admitted she has more to work on.
