Australian 'A' team was: Daria Joura Lauren Mitchell Chloe Sims Shona Morgan Ashleigh Brennan Melanie Jones Individuals/"Team" B: Georgia Bonora Olivia Vivian Melody Hernandez (UB only) Naomi Russell (VT & UB only) Australia beat Japan in the women's, Dasha was by far the class of the competition. 15+ scores on vault, beam (a little shaky) & floor. Has added a new pass on floor - a back handspring,layout full twist, making 5 passes in her routine. Beam was basically a splat-fest. All but Dasha fell. Lauren fell on her step-out to layout two feet and then again on her double pike dismount. Ashleigh fell on a twisting skill late in her routine and almost smacked her head on her beam on the dismount - it was scarily close. Shona had a late fall on her rulfova - she seemed to have it and then relaxed and toppled off the side. Melanie didn't contribute beam but went up last - some nice skills there. Chloe had a fall but still scored 14.7 I think. Great full turn in y-scale and by far the highest double front dismount I've seen her do. Georgia had a shocker. Fell on her dismount after having loads of troubles in warm-ups - Liz C. spent a lot of time coaching her on the skill. She also missed her foot on her layout-stepout series and attempted to make it look like a deliberate korbut. I missed Olivia's beam but she scored around the 13.7 mark so I think she had some problems. Will have to look back at the video but I believe Shona may have upgraded her vault to a 1 1/2 yurchenko and it was basically almost stuck. She got a huge hug from Peggy for that. Dasha did her yurchenko double twist but I didn't really see it - scored around a 15.1 I think. Ashleigh and Lauren did yurchenko fulls, Chloe lunged out of her tsuk 1.5 and scored around 14.6 I think. Melanie competed a tsuk full. Bars was judged really harshly IMO. Not one Aussie scored over 15.0. Only Kuroda from Japan scored around a 15.3 I think. Dasha top scored with a 14.85 or so. Next best Aussie was actually Ashleigh Brennan with a 14.6 (6.5 A score). Chloe got hammered but it took her three goes to get a handstand half over on the low bar. Think she got in the low 14s. Lauren got a 14.0 flat, Shona around a 14.3. Melody scored in the 12s (saw one fall out of the corner of my eye), Georgia in the 13s and Olivia around 14.3 I think but she looked quite messy from what I saw. Loads of OOBs from Australia on floor. Nailed full-in & double pike passes from Shona but she only scored in the high 13s I think. Chloe took out the double layout but put back in the running double front which was GREAT. Stumbled OOB on her opening arabian double front. Nice front pass, floor seemed to come up a bit fast on her in her double twist pass. Finished with a big double pike I think and went way OOB. Lovely presentation though and a really nice triple spin at the start. Ashleigh went OOB on her 2.5 punch front pass but had a nice full-in opening. Her double pike finish was a bit low. Seemed a bit rushed in her presentation tonight. Lauren had a nice double layout to open. Large lunge out of her arabian double-front but stayed in bounds. Tucked front of her closing 2.5 twist pass rather than the layout. Huge smile when she finished - good to see her finish on a good note as opposed to her beam routine the rotation earlier. Dasha was her usual sassy self. Nice to see that adding her full twist pass straight after the 2.5 twist punch rudi didn't take anything away from the choreo. This girl just loves to perform and her double pike to finish just dropped out of the sky. Bit suprised her score didn't go more than 15.15 but the scores were tight. Melanie went last after Dasha. A real pity to see her put her hands down on her arabian double front considering she stuck just about every tumbling row she did in warm-ups. Had issues with another pass too and seemed really off on her 2.5 twist too. She actually stepped OOB preparing for her last pass. Peggy seems to like her though and Melanie appeared really positive despite a few errors. Didn't really get to see much of the men competing but did catch Prasanth's pommels. AMAZING. Did this beautiful move at the start which I have no idea what it is - kind of almost stops in mid routine and holds a press - and then continues on.
