Posted by another wa gym nut on 4/7/2007, 12:30 pm, in reply to "Re: quick overview from Bris" She had tappered her training, working some new stuff for Shanghai. She had NO prep at all for this. Dashas back is an on-off ongoing issue, which she manages. Its also never an excuse if she doesn't perform as she wanted. Had been quite sore before leaving, so the fall would have really hurt. --Previous Message--

Remember guys, Olivia wasn't preparing at ALL for this comp. All the others had been in camp for a week before. Olivia got a call late in the week, and had to fly out the morning after.
: Thanks heaps for your report. Monette
: actually retired a couple of months ago
: after breaking her leg just before last
: year's Worlds.

: I went to the Bris comp last night. After
: not
: following Aust gymn for about 2 years it was
: hard to keep up with who was who, plus I was
: suffering from a bit of jet-lag. Anyhoo, my
: thoughts:
: Most impressive was of course Dasha, she is
: great on all events. Her first Yurchenko
: double twist was so high and fantastic,
: pretty much stuck. Tho like CJ said, she
: took a nasty fall off bars on a release and
: slammed the matte hard. There were audible
: gasps and she took a while to get up - I
: honestly didn’t think she would re-mount.
: Not sure if she was winded, or it was her
: bad back but she did remount and finished
: nicely. Beam was solid and floor was good.
: I think she had a third tumble run, then did
: another pass of RO ff double twist, then a
: fifth pass!
:
: Chloe Sims imo is a very special gymnast.
: She has great skills, and looks really fit
: and healthy. Her vault Tsuk layout 1.5 was
: good, one step to the side. Bars was going
: great with good form and nice pirouettes
: until she fell off on a Jaeger. Stuck
: perfectly a nice full-in or full-out
: dismount. Beam was awesome until she fell
: off after a leap-back tuck combo, dismount
: of double front nearly stuck. On floor she
: overrotated her Arabian double and ran out,
: and stepped out after her double front. She
: made a 2 ˝ twist dismount after repeatedly
: missing it in warm up. Her dance and music
: is very cool. Although she was hit and miss
: at this meet, there is a lot about her
: gymnastics that I really like.
:
: Ashleigh Brennan missed a pirouette on bars
: (not familiar with her routine but it looked
: like she improvised the first few
: sequences), and fell on beam after a layout.
: The first part of her fx routine is from
: the tv show “Cold Case”.
:
: All the other girls I cannot much comment
: on.
: Though Olivia Vivian tried hard, but her
: form was a bit messy, and her skills looked
: a bit unstable on beam.
: I think the other two girls who impressed me
: was Lauren Mitchell and Shona Morgan, good
: form and stability iirc.
: There was a gymnast who looked like a little
: Trudy McIntosh body-type wise!
: If my eyes didn’t deceive me, another Aussie
: did a standing layout step-out to layout to
: two feet on beam, and another a double
: layout on fx, not sure who though.
: Two girls tried Rulfova’s on beam, one was
: successful.
:
: Where was Monette – is she injured? Any
: news on Hollie’s injury?
:
: The Japanese ladies, all I can say is wow,
: they really surprised me. Good form, mostly
: stable skills but their choreo and dance
: could be a bit better, they look a little
: stiff in the ballet moves?
:
: I saw Dasha giving an interview after she
: had finished competing (while her back was
: being worked on), but I cant find it online
: and don’t have the Courier Mail.
:
:
: Highlight of the night for me was not the
: gymn, but it was seeing (well I think it was
: him, correct me if I am wrong!)………..Victor
: Razumovsky, coach of the legendary Yelena
: Gurova!
