Paddle extra hard and give a few extra kicks to really make sure you are in the wave early makes a big difference to help you set up a bottom turn. 2) Depending on the type of wave you are riding. If its hollow, get to the bottom of the trench and lean making it your first priority to make that bottom turn and not get lipped. 4) Watch other riders and a lot of videos and study them. 3) Get the right size board. Maybe your board is too small and you are having a hard time getting in waves early, or your board is too wide or long and not easy to maneuver. Hope this helps. Aloha
A few things that might be helpful.
If its a more slopey type of wave, crank your bottom turn by leaning into the wave and pulling the outside rail to engage it maybe start mid way down the wave face. You will have to practice.
