Hi Shirl,
Stand up bodyboarding we found works best with 45"-48" range. If you start going longer then it starts turning more like a surfboard and its not as "snappy and loose" as a bodyboard. I shaped for Hoptong, Cavin Yap, Abu, Gene Kanaha, and a bunch of all strictly stand up riders and the longest they've gone is 48" The specs depends on the wave you'll be riding and your size,
(For an average size guy)
I think you want a straight shape, (keep the curve straight) so for a 48" I would suggest
10" nose kickflip Ballistic style
21.5" widepoint @ 21" dfn
18.5" tail
2.4" thick
2 stringers,
channels
You can tweak the specks to how you want to ride. Its best to work off of an old board you have and tell me what you like and what you don't like on it and I can try to help you improve it.
Alright I hope that helps a little, thanks for the question.
p.s. sorry haven't been here for a long time. Its time to start making some boogieboards for Jesus.
