i think refs assistants, linesmen, call them what you want, should be given equal say in decisions.
how many times do you see the liner wait until the ref has signalled which way the throw in has gone, before he flags the same way? that's a farce.
how many times does the liner not flag for a foul when clearly he has a better view than the ref?
the best piece of 'officialling' i've seen in a long time, happened at the turf, earlier this season against stoke. tommy mooney stamped on one of our players, i forget who, and this was missed by the officials, yet picked up on by the fourth official, who consulted with the ref and mooney walked. now thats better.
6 bookings the other night in what didn't sound like that sort of game, ridiculous.
perhaps c+t will give a flying #### when the bookings add up and the suspensions start to kick in, that's where you count the real cost of incompetent officials.
of course we all know that officials are given directives and the ref tells the liners before the game what he wants or expects from them, but when does common sense come in to it?
