The Mighty Flynn!!! - I have a Manfred Mann tape that is great in the car for driving, (dating myself I know) and I still belt out "the mighty Flynn" when that track comes up. Happy days indeed.
Remember once keeping the undulating "Burnleeey, Burnleeey, Burnleeey, BUrnleeey, Burnleeey... going from about 15 mins in, thru half time, through the winning goal after about 70 mins, and after full time whistle when we beat Stoke 1-0 about 78... my bunch of mates could barely speak after that, our old match day haunt of the Swan in those days doing a fair old trade in throat cooling bevvies later. One particular emotional away match I recall was the relegation "wake" at Watford in 80 (Brian Laws debut) when we few dozen travelling Clarets (although I lived in Brentford at time) kept up a superb rendition of "We shall overcome some day.." for ages. About the only things I miss about England are relatives, friends and the football. I really do miss the pre-match sessions with my Claret friends (I used to go in the Sparrow Hawk and White Hart), although caught up with mates who had switched to the new Bridge when was back in Sept). You must be around my era, do you know the ultimate fan "Ralphie" by any chance? OK, my Sat night work shift has ended, so heading home down the Parkway, UTC.
