Here is my take on the latest book...again, just one mans take. I am a big fan of Joplin radio and I mean that, there is something to be said for a few of the local jocks around here and the local listeners that embrace what we say.
Anyhow...
My take~
Kixq has been on the down slope ever since Zimmer let J-dub and Buffalo Dave out of the building. Now, not to heap praise on those two but honestly they were the last 2 "natural" jocks that Kixq has had in 8 years. Brett-man is solid but his personality never seems to come out like it does in the halls. The new-ish morning show sounds very contrived and re-hashed from radio-online prep!
Here is how one would fix Kixq...
Bring Sean Caldwell back as the VOICE of kixq..
Hire Crash Creative, Vanilla Gorilla or some other pro production house to handle imaging.
Get a hot jingle package like they had 4 years ago.
I would hire a new morning show that isn't so irritating, and by that I am not knocking the current shows talent I am just under the belief that the show could use a more human touch. Get rid of the "watermellon smashing" style of the current screamers.
Put ABC's Amy B on mid days..
Leave afternoons alone, just give Brett-man a redbull before every show and he would rock.
Nights~ Bring Buffalo Dave Back or at least have him VT it from his current situation.
KSYN~ Good for Larry on this one, I always wondered when they would put Kraddic on and dump the breakfast club.
Lite Rock~ I would simulcast KZRG and really give the 4 states a respectable News/Hot Talk station. I would keep Kinsley on mornings.
Dog~ Go modern/classic combo
