Joplin will never the same? I'm assuming that you mean that Joplin will be worse? So many people are displaced or have left??? What about the other 80% that still have homes? What about the people that have jobs and found new homes already (I know 8 families that have done that). What about all the mostly unaffected in CJ, Webb, Carthage, Diamond, and Neosho?
You sound like this was a Hurricane Andrew or Hurricane Hugo or Katrina event that wiped out the ENTIRE town. It wasn't. Katrina displaced well over 120,000 people. This storm was around 1/10th of that, and didn't touch neighboring that are part of the metro! Get real. The destruction is horrendous IN the tornado path, but if you stand in JHS parking lot, you can see intact leafed-out trees just a few blocks away to the north and south. Those people just a few blocks away are living their lives as normally as possible and are more than likely staying right here in Joplin.
I laughed at your remark that Joplin won't be a rated market for long. As long as the subscribers pay, Arbitron will rate the market. Unfortunately, your Pittsburg market stopped being rated because your owner didn't wish to pay any longer.
