It seems that the people who are always harping about making it to the bigs, NEVER DO!!! Anyone ever notice that???
These people neither possess nor know what it takes to get there, some of which is fortitude, class, and integrity. They lack the character and core values to make it to better places. Instead they tear others down, scoff at their own current surroundings, and complain --- a sure recipe for being a management problem with a downward career path.
Do you criticize management or ownership?
Do you ever complain to fellow coworkers?
Do you think "your way" is the best?
Do you think the radio station would go off the air without you?
Deep down, are you jealous of others who do better than you?
Do you think you are the best talent in the building?
Are your relationships with others poor?
Do you have a history of poor relationships with most people?
Does constructive criticism make you angry?
Do you say, "Well if I was the boss..?" or "if I owned this place, I'd...."
Right now at this point in your career, are you saying "I should be the PD" or "I really ought be OPS now..." or "The MD is an idiot, I could do the music"? Be honest, are you saying these sorts of things regularly?
Shall I keep going??????
If you whiney children answered "YES" to ANY of the above, I am here to tell you that YOU WILL NEVER make it to a sizable market, and you will never amount to anything in this business anywhere.
Whether you want to believe it or not, those who make it to better markets answer "NO" to ALL the above -- that's why they're can-do superstars, and you're not. They are just better people than you are. They have different innate things that motivate them to do the right things - and you don't. They don't complain and cause problems in the building, they have good relationships, they are dependable and loyal, they have class and humility, and they listen to the boss -- and YOU DON'T.
Why are you wasting your prime working years being so miserable? If you were a manager, would you put up with your current sort of behavior? Why not look for another career? You will never never never never ever be happy doing what you are doing now. Just a fact.
