Hmmm, there is ample research on this. Standing water aerosolizes, and thus direct contact with the water is unnecessary for transmission. Bugs do "leap" by aerosolization. In fact, that is one reason why CF doctors in Europe are even cautious about dentist visits for their patients. Other experts opine that toilets must be covered before being flushed. And the first time a sink is used in the morning is the most dangerous time for the aerosolization of PA, according to various studies. I honestly think this is something that Ms. Capen has not researched well. I'll never forget the parents of a CF child who, after culturing mycobacteria for the first time, were asked if they had a fish tank in their home.
