This issue is one that all CF moms and dads struggle with. We did as well. We chose to send our daugther to a small private preschool but only for the year before kindergarten. We did this because she is an only child and we felt that she needed the socializaton. Then we chose to place her in a public school and she does extremely well, even when viruses and flu/colds are going around. So, I would suggest you do whatever you feel led to do. Every CF child is so different. Ashleigh has been in public school for 5 years and has never had pneumonia or a virus. But that doesn't mean that others would have the same experience. Just remember, germs are EVERY where. The movie theatre, the grocery, anywhere you go. Just wash hands a lot and steer clear of those coughing. Be careful not to shelter your kids too much.
