We don't fret too much about the germ thing but do take precautions and do extra hand washing and such if we do classes or large public gatherings. Interestinly, we had chosen to home educate my oldest before/around the time we found out our youngest had CF. The reason we chose to do so were more of a philosophical difference about the way children learn and freedom of choice. We will continue with him if all goes well. I see my kids as a part of the decision, especially as the get older. We are interested in unschooling ideas and supporting our children's unique interests and find home education both fun and satisfying on many levels. I never thought I'd do it, but now I am so glad to have this extra time with my kids (ask me that on a bad day ;-) It gives me flexibility in terms of treatments and our schedule. I feel lucky because we have quite a few home education organizations around us, we found great class with a teacher/mom and six other kids, plus many outings. I just can't say enough about it. It satisfies the artist and teacher in me beyond what I imagined.
