Hello all,
I'm new in this forum but very thankful that I found it!
We have a daugther, Miranda, who is now 5 years old. She was diagnosed with CF when she was only 1½ months old. Her first year was really tough, as she didn't gain enough weight and had infections constantly, even pseudomonas once. After the 3 months long pseudomonas treatment, they found some intestinal infection and prescribed "Vancomycin", yet another drug that kills insted of build... And for the first time I chose not to follow their order. And since then we have done a lot of things, that the doctors either don't approve or don't recognise.
I'm a trained Naturopath with my own clinic and after having asked all the VIPs in that field and not gotten useful answers, I came to the conclusion, that I have to treat her myself.
We live in Denmark, where "Big Pharma" rules and the doctors are completely uninterested in what we do, although Miranda is in very good condition, she takes the same amount of Creons (5 per meal), that she got when she was a baby, she only gets a very basic regime from them, which is the PEPmask twice daily, one pulmozyme inhalation daily and their ADEK-multivitamin (Solvay). Her bowels are fine, her stomach is soft, there is no chronic candida anywhere, her kidneys are good, her appetite, height and weight normal, her lung function is also very good.
They do still find bacteriae in the throat and we do give her their prescribed penicillin cure of 14 days. But in between check-ups, we treat any of the infections that comes along...
We give her:
- A very good probiotic made in Holland: "NDS Probiotic S-60-nrgy" when she is not on penicillin.
- An ADEK-multivitamin (Solvay) plus extra calcium, zinc, magnesium and selenium (from Solgar)
- Japanese green tea (Matcha), rich on many things - e.g. vitamin D - and one of the most powerful antioxidant supplement there is...
- A good, clean fish oil, 15 ml daily
- Herbs: Thyme, Schisandra, turmeric, sometimes ginseng, Mullein, Golden rod which I have as dried extracts and give her in a "Yogi tea" with basil and ginger.
Recently I started giving her NAC and Glutathione but is in doubt of the dosage. The supplements are from Douglas Labs, the NAC is 500mg per capsule and I give her one every other day.
The Glutathione is 50mg per capsule and I give her 2 daily.
But is this enough?? She has been taking it for 1 month and I don't see any reactions...
Thanks,
Sara
