Having just finished discussions with Skids, the total ticket order for this year’s ‘Presentation’ evening has fallen well short of the required number to prevent the function from losing the club money. The purpose of this evening is to be non-profit making and for members to bring along their wife, partner, girlfriend, family, mates, former players etc. The response for tickets has been somewhat disappointing, especially from those who requested a cheaper and more local venue and this year. This event has been advertised from August on the message-board, website, clubhouse, text and by team skippers yet still a large percentage of the membership did not respond until requested by telephone. As a result of the response it is with regret that the social committee has been forced to cancel this event and from the response, offer as an alternative, a trophy collection evening at the Clubhouse on the same night at 8pm where all the boys can come and pick up the end of season averages sheets and be home for 9.00pm. To those of you who were looking forward to the Windjammer do I can only say sorry but enough effort has been put into chasing members for commitment. Those who have already paid will get their money back on the night up the club. At this point it is requested that members do not embarrass themselves by requesting more tickets as that time passed yesterday at 7pm. I would like to thank Skids for all the organising efforts he has made and a special mention to Ross Clarke who was to do the catering the day after his scheduled TV appearance.
