Before I retired from le in Texas I had the opportunity to attend an "active shooter" course. It was classroom and hands-on training in a warehouse, using paintball ammo that stung like hell. It was an excellent course on forming an entry team on the fly and confronting the active shooter(s). I got to snuff a badguy, and exact revenge on the backside of a supervisor.
I wish all officers could take the course but I know cost is a major factor. Still, if you ever get the opportunity to take one, jump on it!
