Contact Lin Chimes: Lin & Jim Chimes-Stewart Fiesta 2010 Posted by Bob Tripp on May 6, 2009: Los Amigos de La Penita Fiesta 2010 I have been asked to Chair “Fiesta 2010” to be held Sunday, January 31st, 2010 at Thomas Bartlett’s Hacienda La Penita. On April 28th, sixteen members of Los Amigos de La Penita met at the Hacienda to discuss the upcoming Fiesta. It was agreed that the “Garden Party” theme could not be outdone. “It is the best party of the season”. With the support and the experience of those who have helped in the past, we want to make the Party bigger and better. Thomas Bartlett has offered Los Amigos the grounds at the Hacienda but he is not financing the event as he has in the past. To compensate for Thomas’ generosity, we are looking for “Special Sponsors”, hopefully 5 in total, to collectively donate $50,000 Pesos. This is the estimated amount of money needed to fund last year’s event. The offerings at this year’s Fiesta that were discussed but not finalized are as follows: Art Auction - Solicit up to 20 works of art and jewelry. A commission scale to 30 or 40% would be available to the artist. Silent Auction – This has been very successful in the past two Fiestas and should remain a staple in 2010. Art donations should perhaps all go into the Art Auction. Music – The general consensus was for a change in this venue. We discussed Classical music, harp, or quartet, some Spanish or Classical Guitar and dance and of course Rock and Roll. Perhaps a “big band” sound would be a drawing card. Bar – An open bar will continue to be offered. Food – We want to do something different, something exciting, and something to suit the occasion. We need the help and support of the Membership to make this Fiesta as successful as it has been in the past. We need committee members that want to help and who are prepared to take on the work to make it happen. The only criteria are that you attend all committee meetings and be able to communicate via email. Following are some of the committees that I can see a need for. Some of them are already filled, but we need volunteers to make them work. They are: Public Relations, Accounting, Ticket Sales, Advertising, Security, Liaison to the Underwriters, Art Auction, Silent Auction, Music Coordinator, Sound System, Lay-out Planner for tables, chairs, glassware etc., Photography, Food, Bar, Solicitor of donated supplies – food, wine, liquor, door prizes and last but not least, Toilet Rental. Some of the committees come with huge workloads so we may look at breaking them into smaller portfolios. Send us your ideas along with your pledge for support. To help facilitate this year’s Fiesta, Tom Plattenberger has generously offered the use of his Board - Jaltemba Bay Folk. As per usual the Wednesday in the first week of Feb 2010 Feb 3rd. Im pretty sure! Dorthy of The Jaltemba Sol virtual paper has more detials and will be working her magic with the artwork on the new poster soon to be realeased . Reletively speaking, that is! This year We plan on some all new and exciting things to bewilder and entertian our guests. Our New resourse of El Labrador Tequila and World Grand Champion overall (2008) Tequila Anejo Taster Choice award El Gran Jubileo, are biteing at the bit to provide samples and accsess to there othewise nearly imposible to get selections ! We promise to provide some of the best food available in the region for those of you able to recieve one of the limited numbers of tickets . Plan early so as not to loss out on this next extravaganzaaaaaaaaaa!!! If there are any questions as to the funds of this please simply ask as a full acount can and WILL be provided. It will remain the same as in past years 50% Amiliano Zapata school in Rincon and the secound 50% to Community support. I want to point out that we take aprox 10 % off the top to go to the sustianable fund of the Jaltemba Foundation .As they provide the Charitable status and accountability for these funds. Received from David Howell on Feb 26, 2009: Hola, We wanted to inform all of those instrumental in organizing and coordinating the other events that take place in and or around the EL Famoso Tourney the date of the 12th Annual EL Famoso Horseshoe Tourney in 2010. We have normally scheduled this event the first Saturday after the Superbowl. However 2010 would mean the tourney to fall on February 13th. We feel Valentine’s day would conflict with our turn out and we certainly do not want to mess with Cupid. Therefore we printed and handed out fliers at last tourney with 2010 event date. We wanted to make you aware of the date in case your did not get a flier. That date will be Saturday February 6th 2010. We hope that this helps all the organizers of all these worthy events in the scheduling of their events and allow for all who wish to attend these events plan their travel and vacation time.
