SEASHORE & ESTUARY WILDLIFE IN LA PEŅITA
Visit our seashore with Jerry Einem, an expert tropical naturalist/zoologist
who has lived in La Peņita studying local wildlife for 7 years.
See nature through a naturalists eyes.
MEETING PLACE:
Xaltemba Restaurant located on the far corner on the Plaza across from the Church in Downtown La Peņita
9:00am on Sunday, Feb 17th
8:30 for orange juice, coffee & scones.
This easy walk lasts approximately two hours.
WHO? Jerry Einem, an expert tropical naturalist with a Masters degree in zoology, has lived in La Peņita studying local wildlife for 7 years. He has led many natural history tours in Costa Rica, Mexico, & Peru with wife Libby.
WHERE ARE WE GOING! After a brief introduction on the geology & ecology of the shoreline, we will walk the beach in a northerly direction, about a 1/4 mile, to a small estuary. This is the best time of year to see a maximum number & diversity of species.
YOU WILL LEARN: Jerry will discuss or comment on everything we see, from Brown Pelicans & the Magnificent Frigatebird to sand fleas and fiddler crabs. He will point out many aspects of the behavior, natural history and the ecology of this species abundant ecosystem.
BRING: Good field glasses (if you have them) & a brimmed hat.
