Hello Christina...I also live in Los Ayala so you may be a neighbour! It is definitely less expensive to purchase your household appliances/electronics in either Tepic or Guadalajara. We have an excellent shipping company called Barcelata Sanchez who have offices in Tonala, Guadalajara and La Penita....they will bring your purchases right to the door. Alternatively, I also like to support our local merchants in La Penita. We have, I think, four stores who sell appliances. Check out prices in all areas, factor in the cost of shipping versus the convenience of having items delivered free of charge to your door from La Penita. Regarding dishes...that depends upon what you want. If you want hand painted, artistic dishes, then I recommend Tonala. I have purchased both from afar and La Penita...I always check out La Penita first. Also, if you have problems later, they will offer support so that is on the plus side. There is the big box American stores in PV to check out as well. For me, I like to support the Mexican merchants when possible. Hope this offers some help.
