On errands this morning, I see that Day of the Dead altars are being set up on La Avenida in La Peņita. To our manner of speaking, these are more like shrines. They were set up in La Plaza last year. I was in hopes that that would be the place once again. Anywho, walking through these works in progress, I was startled to see the framed picture of a friend of mine. I did not know that this young man was dead. My fault for not speaking the language. Like everyone else in town, I had heard about his beating after he tried to break-up a bar brawl. But I never knew that he was the one being talked about. I had wondered why I never saw him around anymore. Strange way to put the puzzle together. Tom
