My US debit card has always had an expiration date from the first one I ever received. Just as well, they get pretty worn in use. Why would a Mexican Bank need to tell you when your debit card will expire though, isn't the expiration date printed right on the card? All of this is also true of credit cards of course. If you attempt to use an expired credit card in an automated machine, it will also retain the card.
