Hia Ron...

Welcome to Jaltemba Bay Folk.

You will find lots of good information here on this board. But any friend of Lindsay's is a friend of mine; you are welcome to email me any time. Just click on the white envelope icon near my name.

If you mean to say that you are thinking of relocating here, I must say, economy is probably one of the worst reasons. In many ways, you will find life in Mexico to be more expensive than some would lead you to believe.

Consumer goods produced outside of Mexico cost about 15% more here than they do in the US and Canada. Many of us make-do with products of unequal quality or we bite the bullet and pay more than we would "back home".

If I might make one broad, general observation: budget living is more socially accepted here than it might be in your current environment.

Vegetarians are in 7th heaven here. Fresh fruits and veggies are abundant, diverse, and very inexpensive. Meats and processed foods are another story. A roof over-head can be a real bargain.

Sorry, you will not get much more information from me about economic issues... this just about all I think I know about such things.

Almost everyone who lives here is very happy with their circumstances. Over the years, I have noticed that the occasional unhappy, cranky, constantly complaining people have one thing in common; they are here because of economic necessities.

There are a ton of good reasons to live here. The most simple day to day activities can become an adventure. Surprises and things that make me laugh are always right around the corner. What would have been important in my former life are not even on the radar here.

Comedy and tragedy are everywhere evident.

You will find here a community that is welcoming to all good people. We are diverse in our interests, life-goals and lifestyles. Our biggest deficiency is our lack of racial diversity.

Rather than emaiing you, I am posting this here, to encourage the perspective of others. Of course, I will respond to any specific question you do not want to post publicly. Susan and Larry are a good example of our great people. I could just hug the air right out of them! To make an informed decision, don't neglect to solicit the opinion of everyone here, on your specific questions.

I wish you all the best. I have not heard from Lindsay for a couple of years, so please do write to me with an update.

Tom
