It depends on who you ask. Most people hated Mattie's book, which was a John Byrne/ Bart Sears production. It spun out of all that Green Goblin Gathering of Six (or Five or Seven or whatever it was ). Personally, I enjoyed it, although I hated Mattie's original Spider-Man lookalike costume. Part of the gimmick of the book was that Mattie had a new costume each storyline. I loved almost all of them, but the one she finally settled on around #12 was the best outfit. Byrne also tried to make the book similar to the original series by featuring all-new, weirdo villains along the lines of the Needle and Gypsy Moth and such. My favorite Mattie villains included Shadowcaster, Nighteyes, Mr. Itch and Ms. Scratch and Flesh and Bones. Mattie also started developing a Batman-esque detective sense, but that played out only by the end part of the series, so we didn't get to see much of it, unfortunately.
