The revelation that the former New Mutants are now the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants makes no sense on so many levels but just the name alone irks me. 'Course, Giggenheim has said at great length that he's a NM fan. He even said that he went in to the X-Office to discuss a book he was to write for them and abandoned it as soon as he heard a new New Mutants project was looking for a writer. Guggs should know that the former NM would never use the word Evil in their name, unless controlled or being ironic. Thus I have a theory:
Cyclops never appeared in the story. Since Scott Summers has never used Nightcrawler's image inducer to my knowlege AND Pierce's appearance would be out of left field considering the rest of the story, I say that Pierce was using the technology to form a hit squad to take down Sam and the rest of the team. Guggs did say that the solicitations were misleading...
