It is not simply a question of assessing risk. You have to assess the relative reward for that risk. You are asking someone to potentially risk the equivalent of a lot of money (my understanding is the only the 1st place finisher gets the free hotel stay as well as potentially their airfare paid) for the reward of making some strangers happy. In my view, that is not very reasonable nor very likely.
