Hi Bruce, I personally prefer YouTube style- register / login only when positing vs. Facebook style- register / login before you can access features. MonRoi site is a mix of non-registered browsing (majority of the pages), and registered for viewing of chess games and the community features. Our servers are more secure (for traffic intensive applications) this way, and the users who login do not have a downtime, so they can enjoy analysis or live games without interruptions. There are thousands of users who are using monroi.com registration since we launched a new browser in February of 2008 (with no issues reported). Registration does not benefit MonRoi in terms of visibility, as search engines cannot scroll web-pages which require username. It does benefit registered users, and benefits outweigh forgotten-password issues or learning process in a few instances.
